Abu (18) lives in fear of being seen. Within his Moroccan community in Amsterdam, the smallest misstep could cost him everything — so he hides who he is and disappears at night into a city where no one knows him. There he has found what he cannot have at home: the freedom to dance, and a love that asks him to be nothing but himself. For a while, he believes he is unwatched. But his aggressive older brother has been following him. The nights are discovered. The dancing is forbidden. And as the world closes in, his family turns on him. A brutal attack leaves Abu in a coma.

There, in the silence between life and death, he finally lives the life he was denied: a family that loves him, a love that holds him, and a body that dances without fear — night after night, Abu glides across the ballroom floor, free at last.
